[Discussion]My perfect life : 6 months to change my life

I was watching a self help youtube video, and something that stuck with me was the idea to imagine your perfect life, and then try and do something each day that would bring you close to that perfect life you want.

I think the idea is so simple, so I might as well try this. I’m in a bad place right now. I am close to my heaviest weight, zits keep popping up on my face, I haven’t had a boyfriend in close to 10 years (8 to be exact), I fear I might fail one of my classes yet again (I’ve failed this same class twice before) and if I do, I won’t graduate this year and must do another semester which would mean I did my undergrad in 5 and a half years. All of this, and my problems with concentration, memory, motivation, procrastination, and self-harm (I relapsed after almost 2 years ). So, I really need some form of motivation. Except, I sort of am unsure of this. This “perfect” future scares me, and I tried to write something that would be actually doable. I’m turning 24 in October, so I decided to write it set in a few months in the future.

I hope this gives someone else motivation, and any sort of feedback is much appreciated, I think I need a lot of support, and I’m sure if I tell my family and friends, they are going to laugh at me and say something along the lines of wanna bet the exact opposite will happen in 6 months? You never follow through

I intend to prove them wrong, and for once, be kind to myself. Here it is, my perfect life :

  • I just turned 24 years old. I’m finally the weight I’ve always wanted to be, 130 pounds.
  • My skin cleared up after I went to the dermatologist.
  • I am a lot more active. I go on hiking trips and every month, I go for a road trip somewhere around the country for a day or two.
  • I have learned how to meditate and use mindfulness to calm myself and I do this every day.
  • I now get up at 6 every morning, and actually feel really great when I do.
  • For a while now, I haven’t had any fast food, and have been monitoring my junk food intake. I keep the money I save from not eating junk and put it towards my road trips.
  • I intern at an IoT start up and do freelance web design when I can.
  • I also finished my photography certificate and I plan on starting a blog, or at least an Instagram account.
  • I have decided to take the year off before graduate school, but I am applying to a few schools abroad.
  • I graduated from university in July.
  • My friends and I, we shot our first short film and we’re submitting it for a few festivals. Right now, I have a few other ideas that I’m working on, and the things I learned from the writing course I took over the summer are really coming to my rescue.
  • I met someone, and we’ve been on a few dates. I am finally happy with myself, enough to actually want to get dolled up and look forward to our dates.
  • I also went back to learning French, and I’m finding it easier this time around.

I think this is doable. The biggest things on my list are losing weight (almost 40 pounds, which is a lot) and graduating.
