[Discussion] Let me motivate you into doing yourself and everyone else around you a favor by finding a sober ride home tonight if you decide to get chocolate wasted.
I know you've all heard it a thousand times, but if you decide to go out and get chocolate wasted tonight, do yourself and everyone else around you a favor and either crash where you're at or call an Uber. Trust me when I say paying for a ride home is way cheaper and less shitty than getting pulled over by the cops and getting charged with a DWI, or worse, because you wanted to roll the dice and try your hand at driving home all fucked up. All it takes is a .08 and your ass is going straight to pound town if you get pulled over. Not to mention how dangerous it is to yourself and everyone else around you. Take my word for it, because I can personally give you a play by play rundown of what happens when your luck disappears and eventually get arrested and charged with a dewie. I can tell you it fucking sucks, and I wish I would have just taken an 8 dollar Uber ride home. Thankfully nobody got injured or worse. I say this in love, that you're honestly an idiot if you decide to try and get home without incident because especially on a night like tonight, there are cops everywhere waiting to light you up and get your drunk ass off the road. Also, remember if you wake up early and try to drive home from wherever you slept at, you're probably still going to be drunk and a risk. If you think taking safety precautions to prevent something from happening is an inconvience, wait and see how much of an inconvenience it will be to spend days in a dirty, crowded ass jail, the possibility of losing your job, your license, all the money you'll be spending, and the mark on your criminal record (Fun fact, DWI charges can never be removed or expunged ever. That means it's with you forever). Not to mention if you kill someone, then you are royally fucked, amigo. That said, please don't feel like I'm saying you can't go out and have fun and party it up. There's absolutely nothing intrinsically wrong with that. Heck, I encourage you to get wasted, do a bunch of drugs or whatever, and enjoy ringing in 2017 with friends and family. Just be SMART about it that's all. Don't start the New Year off by waking up on day 1 in a filthy, overcrowded, dilapidated jail cell with a hangover and the burden of regret, when you can simply take a moment to plan for a sober ride home. Takes almost no effort at all. Love you guys and HAPPY NEW YEAR! Now go get crunk, have fun, and give a big "Fuck You!" to 2016! Stay smart and stay safe y'all!

[Tool] Don't quit, Limit and Reward. Give up "Giving Up" in 2017.
After a fairly successful 2016, where I achieved a few of my goals I have realised there are a few things I always try to change and fail. This year I am taking a different approach. It is obvious now that I cannot completely quit some habits that are not so good for me. SO this year I am giving up "Giving Up". Here is the plan. My 2 major vices are Fast Food and Alchol. I don;t need to go into detail as to why these are holding me back. We all know why. I have tried giving up both of these for years with varying degrees of success. This year I am setting myself a quota for each for the next 12 months. I haven't nailed it down yet but so far I thinking:
24 Fast Food Tokens = about twice a month. 24 Alcohol Tokens = about twice a month.
Tokens can be spent whenever I like. If I want to go on a 3 day drinking bender like a Stag Party in Feb I can, but I'll only have 21 Alcohol Tokens Left for the rest of 2017.
An Alcohol Token lasts until I sleep. A Fast Food Token in one Meal.
To add to this I am also going to use these tokens as motivation for good habits:
Every 100 miles running earns me another Fast Food Token Every 4 week chain of 3 x a week Weigh Training earns me an Alcohol Token.
One Week Summer Holiday is FREE. Not tokens required for 7 days.
The hope is, I reduce my bad habits and learn to appreciate them as treats rather than the norm, I also motivate myself to do my good habits and get a reward from consistency.
A whole year without the things I enjoy fills me with dread and kills my motivation. A structured plan of Reward and Achievement makes me motivated to hell.
I'd appreciate any thoughts / suggestions about this idea. TY.
TL:DR: I'm limiting my vices to a set amount for the year, with the option to increase the quota by completing good habits.

[Tool] Would anyone be interested in working through The Artists Way with me in 2017?
If you aren't familiar with the book, it's a book about creativity and presents exercises over the course of 15 (I think) weeks.

I've only ever gotten to about week 5, and even then it made a huge difference in my life. I'd like to start getting back into the habit of writing my morning pages & completing the exercises. (I've found they really help with focus!)
Anyone ele interested? Or, even better, does anyone know of any groups planning on starting the book over in 2017 that I could join?

The forest [Story]
The forest
You’re walking through a beautiful, lush forest. The sun shines through the canopy, leaving shimmering moats of light and shadows. The forest floor glistens with a crisp fresh dew. Birds of all kinds, shapes and sizes sing a thousand melodies. Animals roam free in a beautiful ballet of life and survival. They rejoice to find the next hearty meal, the next mate to love. They cry and feel the final pain of death when they slip. A gentle breeze caresses the ferns and bushes on the forest floor. The same breeze plays a wonderful melody as it passed through the leaves above. The soil is rich and dark, full of nutrients and life. And as you walk through this forest, time itself ceases to exist. It is so beautiful and everlasting that it provides a clear window of eternal happiness and joy. It is the purest place on earth. Nothing in the universe could tarnish it. It is perfection. You could see every win, every loss, every time you laughed, every time you cried, everything you loved. It was all around you, for eternity. And then she looked away.
Time and reality comes rushing back. You are in a dimly lit room. And as she pulls her hand away, the forest starts to burn. The birds and animals squeal as they panic and flee. Many perish, and there is no explanation. The fire roars through the once peaceful and soft forest floor. The mighty trees crackle and fall. The sun is drowned out by a thick black smoke, replacing everything that was light with utter darkness. The forest stands no chance. It dies within hours. Eternal love and happiness has been replaced with slow darkness and pain. You turn and leave the room. Your body stays behind, but your mind leaves for the night. As much pain and misery as there is, you can’t help but spend the time walking through the forest, looking back at the dark void. It was once alive and strong and eternal. And while you are there you stoop down to plant a seed. Just a tiny seed of hope; if you weren’t careful it would slip through your fingers and be lost forever. But you hold on with care as you push the ashes aside and gently place the seed in the ground. And you have to return to this place of pain to water the seed often, or else it will die. If you can do this, eventually the seed will grow. And the more you visit, the faster the void will transform into a delicate place for life anew. If you are lucky, you will have help. Family and friends will help you plant more seeds. Soon you will have a young forest again. So when you see a new beautiful forest in another pair of eyes, you will be ready. Together, you can make an even stronger forest than before. The birds will return. The breeze will start playing. The light will shine through once more.
