Putting The Best Procrastination Hack From r/getmotivated To The Test [Meta]

I’m a long time procrastinator who always upvotes “saved this to read it later” in any procrastination thread. I thought it would be cool to verify GetMotivated’s favorite procrastination tricks.

Here’s how it would work:

  • You tell me you favorite procrastination hacks, maybe from the wiki or from popular posts like this one

  • We pick one or two that people have had success with

  • I set up a (free & open) test to see if whatever we pick helps people stop procrastinating, Then report back with results on whether this worked.

Here are some ideas for what we could test:

  • “Unscheduling” which is an idea from the FAQ

  • Tim Urban’s TEDtalk or article that tries to help you characterize your impulses

  • The sub itself! Whether having GetMotivated in your reddit feed helps you stop procrastinating.

Let’s do this—what’s worked for you and/or what would you like to see tested?
