Research shows that there are four stages to learning a new skill.
The first is, simply put, sucking at it:
Unconscious incompetence- in the beginning, you don’t know what you don’t know. You’re not entirely aware of what the new skill entails or what your goals should be. You make mistakes without realizing that you’re making them.
(From The Stages of Learning: How You Slowly Become More Competent at New Skills)
Therefore, if you’re starting out, you’re going to suck. Don't get discouraged, and don't use it as an excuse to give up. Accept the fact that this is the way it is, and keep moving forward. If you stay the course, you'll get there in the end.
