In Dragon Ball Z, they mention that there hadn't been a Super Saiyan in a thousand years. So it's absolutely insane when Goku is able to become one for the first time because it seems like he's "the chosen one"; the one with the Super Saiyan gene. But the fact of the matter is that he wasn't "chosen"; he was able to become a Super Saiyan through years of intense training. This is supported by the fact that eventually, pretty much every Saiyan in the show is able to turn into a Super Saiyan. Goku showed everyone the possibilities and so everyone was encouraged to train harder to try to reach his level. I don't know if it was the point that the author was trying to make, but it's the one I'd like to take away from this. The point being that anyone can become a "Super Human" through sheer determination and hard work. We're all born with different advantages and disadvantages, but we all have unlimited potential. We can always grow and push beyond the limits that we think we have. We can get to "Super Human level 1, 2, 3, ..., n" where n is as far as you're willing to take yourself. So believe in your potential and constantly improve yourself to see how far you go. Who knows? Maybe you'll reach a level none of us thought was possible and you'll encourage the world to try to reach that level!
Or maybe I've just been watching too much anime. Either way, I just wanted to share this thought for some reason.
